Three questions to ask before joining a new spiritual routine

A useful routine should be realistic, meaningful, and repeatable. If it is too ambitious, it often becomes a burden instead of support.

Ask what is repeatable

The first question is whether the routine can survive an ordinary week. If it only works when everything is perfect, it is probably too complicated. A sustainable practice is usually smaller than the one we imagine at first.

Ask what deepens attention

The second question is whether the practice gives your mind a cleaner center. Some activities are impressive but noisy. A real practice leaves you quieter and more available to what matters.

Ask what can wait

The third question is whether there is anything you can postpone. Space is part of discipline. Not every useful thing needs to happen in the same week.
